Abstract

The 13th International Congress on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (LUPUS 2019) is proud to invite you to San Francisco, California USA, April 5-8, 2019. This exciting meeting, “LUPUS: Gateway to the Future” will highlight advances and insights from recent SLE research into the causes and outcomes of SLE, explore the promise of implementing a personalized approach to diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment, and provide a forum to hear exciting and innovative research from a new generation of investigators. The Congress will span the disciplines dedicated to improving outcomes in SLE, from basic and translational science through epidemiology and outcomes research. The first day of the Congress will highlight major advances and insights gained from recent research initiatives in SLE. The second day will focus on precision medicine, including opportunities and challenges associated with implementing a personalized approach to diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of lupus. The final day of the Congress will be a celebration of the future, with presentations featuring the most exciting research by young and mid-career investigators from every corner of the world and across the spectrum of disciplines in lupus research. The Golden Gate Bridge is emblematic of San Francisco as a world-class city that has looked to the future from its very beginning. “Lupus: Gateway to the Future” will highlight the breakthroughs and the investigators who are responsible for them that will transform lupus treatment in the years to come. San Francisco lies at the center of a dynamic metropolitan area. Home to multiple world-class universities, the Bay Area launched the technology and biotechnology industries with advances made at local campuses. Reflecting the dynamism of its economy, San Francisco has attracted a diverse population from around the globe. The Bay Area is blessed with spectacular scenery and attractions, including San Francisco Bay, the Pacific Ocean, Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park, redwood forests, and the wine country of Napa and Sonoma Counties. Within a few hours lies the Monterey Peninsula, Big Sur, Yosemite National Park, and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Many world-class restaurants are within an easy walk or cab ride of the Congress venue. The largest modern art museum in the world, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, is a block away. Many other museums are also within easy reach, including the city’s foundational science museum, the Exploratorium, Asian Art Museum, DeYoung Museum, and Legion of Honor, among others.
