Abstract

The Department of Analytical Chemistry was established in the year 1960 as a research department under University of Madras. It is one of the unique departments in our country offering M.Sc, M.Phil and Ph.D programs in Analytical Chemistry. The Department is actively involved in research since its inception and has produced over 80 Ph.D scholars and numerous Post-graduates and M.Phil students. The alumni of this department are rendering their services to premier academic institutions and industries across the world. The department specializes in the areas of electrochemistry, spectroscopy, spectrometry, chemical sensors, materials, corrosion studies and nanobiomaterials. The sophisticated instruments available in the department include UV-Vis Spectrophotometers, Electrochemical workstation, Quartz crystal microbalance, Polarograph, Gas Chromatograph, HPLC, Ion-analyzer, Corrosion monitoring system, and Refractometer besides a Computation laboratory. Given the vast requirements and implications of analytical chemistry in our day to day life, the conference is aimed at attracting participants from the world's leading academic institutions, research organizations and industries involved with the field looking for discussions, solutions and market place for product. development. Analytical Sciences encompasses fields of Pharmacy, Food technology, geology, agriculture, environment, nuclear, metallurgy, catalysts, polymers, sensors, biotechnology, medicine, radiochemistry, diagnostics and therapeutics. In recent years the greatest challenge has come from nanosciences which has thrown open a host of analytical avenues for the development of new generation devices born out of nanotechnology. The conference intends to attract papers dealing with recent trends in the field of analytical sciences in general.
