Abstract

The Gordon Research Seminar on Physics and Chemistry of Microfluidics is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas. Microfluidics has developed into a mature field with proven methods and applications through the adaptation of basic scientific knowledge in microscale phenomena and microfabrication. In keeping with this tradition of innovation based on fundamental understanding, this seminar will focus on new avenues of investigation that have the potential to substantially disrupt the field of microfluidics, such as creative applications of physical phenomena, new platforms based on cutting-edge basic science, alternative materials and fabrication methods, and under-explored application areas. The 2019 GRS aims to provide a forum for talented students and postdocs to share unorthodox, forward-thinking ideas and to foster a positive environment of collaboration and professional growth.
