Abstract

The Gordon Research Seminars provide a unique platform to young researchers, such as graduate students, postdocs and junior group leaders, for exchanging and discussing ideas at the cutting edge. The chairs for the next meeting are elected from the group of participants. The participants of this meeting will discuss novel results concerning the interaction between and manipulation of the various spin-active systems. Some prototypical examples are ferromagnets, spin-Hall conductors, topological insulators, and materials with spinfull defects. The main topics of the meeting include magnetic textures and their excitations, spin liquids, antiferromagnetic spintronics, magnonics, ultrafast spin dynamics, spin-orbit torques, and spin-Hall phenomena. The meeting will start with a general introduction into spin dynamics in textured magnets by one of the experts in the field. It will also include an interactive panel discussion on the different career options after a PhD. The panel will be composed of experts from different sectors of the economic market, and will provide useful insights about the expectations and dynamics in their respective sectors.
