Abstract

The Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Collagen is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting-edge ideas. Scheduled on the weekend before the corresponding Gordon Research Conference (GRC), the GRS provides a supportive and stimulating environment for early-stage scientists not only to engage in scientific discussions but also to develop their network and to build rapport, find mentorship and guidance within their peer group. Thus, the GRS is an excellent opportunity to build professional confidence and camaraderie leading up to the GRC. The focus of the 2019 meeting of this series is to share and discuss emerging research on collagen proteins; from understanding their chemical and molecular properties, to expansion and development of treatments for human disease. One of the strengths of previous meetings is the interdisciplinary nature of attendees and presentations, and we expect the 2019 GRS to continue this tradition. The Seminar will feature a Keynote session, a Career Development component, and approximately 10 talks and 2 poster sessions selected from abstracts. All applications must include an abstract, as all attendees are expected to actively participate in the GRS via an oral or poster presentation. All attendees of the 2019 Collagen GRS are encouraged to attend the 2019 Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Collagen that follows. These two conferences will be held at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH surrounded by serene lakes, woodland and mountains.
