Abstract

The Gordon Research Seminar on Amygdala Function in Emotion, Cognition and Disease is an excellent opportunity for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience to present their work, explore cutting-edge research and techniques, and to network with the next generation of neuroscientists. There will also be opportunities for professional and career development. The focus of the meeting is to bring together our understanding of the neurobiological underpinnings of amygdala function, spanning all levels of research from molecular analysis to behavior. The seminar will encourage meaningful interactions and stimulating discussion of unpublished data. Topics to be covered include molecular, genetic, and circuit dissection of amygdala function with relevance to clinical disease. There will be a particular emphasis on pathological conditions, including stress-related disorders, addiction and epilepsy. Additional time at this year’s meeting will be dedicated to sexual dimorphism in amygdala form and function.
