The breathtaking diversity of living things is underwritten by trillions of protein sequences expressed by a myriad of organisms living alone and in structured communities. The 2019 Gordon Research Conference on Enzymes, Coenzymes and Metabolic Pathways will offer diverse perspectives on the origins and fundamental principles of the catalytic reactions that give rise to life. The meeting will focus on understanding how enzymes and coenzymes evolved, form pathways, and can be manipulated to reach biotechnological holy grails, and to treat and eliminate disease. Scientists from various research areas will come together to explore new ideas, opportunities and approaches in enzymology. The meeting strongly encourages the participation of students and postdoctoral associates and provides opportunities for discussions and networking. There will be opportunities for oral presentations chosen from submitted poster abstracts.
