Abstract

The mission of the Whistler Anesthesiology Summit is to deliver the highest standard in educational updates, covering all aspects of anesthesia care. Using various educational formats, we encourage participant interaction with the national and international leaders in anesthesia in order to promote excellence in anesthesia care, all in one of the most beautiful settings in the world. Come learn, and ski, with us. Our conference is supported by UBC Continuing Professional Development, a division of the Faculty of Medicine UBC, and is eligible for 15.5 MOC Section 1 credits. Whistler, BC, Canada, is regarded as one of the top resorts in North America and 2010 was an exciting year to be there because of all of the Olympic activity. Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains offer the highest lift-serviced vertical and the largest terrain of any ski area in North America, with large alpine bowls and forested glades, expert grooming and ski runs that last forever. SEVEN THOUSAND acres of ski and snowboard terrain including 12 alpine bowls, 3 glaciers AND over 200 marked runs with 35 lifts. Be sure to take the new Peak-to-Peak Gondola for one of the most exhilarating rides in North America. It goes from the top of Whistler to the top of Blackcomb in 11 minutes and is still 1400 feet above the treetops - at it-s LOWEST point! The views are magnificent, especially from the two glass-bottom cars. Other Winter activities to entice visitors include ski touring, X-country, dog sledding, snow shoeing, snow mobiling, skating, zip-trekking and even heli-skiing. You can visit the $100 million Sliding Centre (Bobsleigh, Luge & Skeleton) at Base 2 on Blackcomb; and the fantastic Nordic venues (X-Country, Biathalon and Ski Jumping) at the Whistler Olympic Park. There is also amazing dining and shopping in award-winning Whistler Village.
