Abstract

Over the past decade, the interdisciplinary collaboration of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery has become the cornerstone for establishing and safely implementing new and innovative techniques in the field of cardiovascular medicine. In addition to the treatment of valvular heart disease, this particularly concerns therapy concepts of cardiac insufficiency as well as cardiac arrhythmias. As part of the "Hamburg Heart Days" in 2019, these three topics will be discussed in lectures and case demonstrations by national and international experts, and the latest developments will be highlighted. Innovative surgical and interventional concepts for the treatment of mitral regurgitation are discussed, including a transcatheter mitral valve implantation, which is discussed in the context of expanding indications in an interactive debate. In the field of heart failure therapy, the spectrum of medical therapy concepts to the latest support systems and the future the heart transplantation tense. In particular, we are pleased to have international speakers (Joseph Woo-Stanford University, Ulrich Jorde-Montefiore Medical Center) and our mayor Peter Tschentscher for an honorary lecture. The nationally established Young Topics in Cardiology - a case-based program involving the auditorium - will be integrated into the Hamburg Heart Days this year and, together with the Cardiovascular Science Days, which discuss the latest scientific developments in cardiovascular medicine, will be an attractive start to the this year-s event. We hope to have aroused your interest with this program and look forward to seeing you With kind regards
