The ISME symposia, organized every two years, are the largest international meetings addressing the wide range of topics in Microbial Ecology. ISME Symposia are open to everyone with an interest in Microbial Ecology and usually attract 1500-2500 delegates, representing over 50 countries. The symposia are organized and owned by the International Society for Microbial Ecology (ISME). This Society is based in Wageningen, the Netherlands and is also owner of The ISME Journal (published by Nature Publishing Group).
