This 2020 Gordon Research Conference (GRC) serves as a forum to discuss the current state of the art, to debate open questions, and to identify new promising research directions in the highly interdisciplinary field of Crystal Engineering. Themes ranging from the fundamental assembly of molecular materials to the design and realization of material properties for targeted applications (e.g. synthesis, pharmaceuticals, electronics, separations) will be explored. The program intentionally seeks to include broad perspectives from researchers in academia, national laboratories and industry with the goal of strengthening the links between fundamental and applied studies. With an influx of new ideas as well as experimental and computational approaches, this conference can help to define the paradigm-shifting questions and future directions of the crystal engineering field. Presenters are encouraged to emphasize their latest advances including unpublished results. A hallmark of this GRC is a vibrant and highly interactive poster session where students, postdocs and established researchers present and learn about new and exciting research. With many opportunities for meaningful discussion, all participants are expected to help foster an open and healthy exchange of scientific ideas.
