Abstract

The Gordon Research Seminar on Biogenic Hydrocarbons and the Atmosphere brings together young researchers to present and discuss interdisciplinary research and exchange cutting-edge ideas in a casual and friendly environment among peers with comparable levels of experience. Biogenic volatile organic compounds (VOCs) exert significant impacts in atmosphere chemistry and climate change, with ample feedback within the ecosystem. This GRS taking place for the first time in Asia, aims to explore hydrocarbon-atmosphere dynamics, with a focus on the production, interactions, and the role of biogenic VOCs in a changing climate. Drawing on research performed at multiple scales and through a variety of methods, this seminar will provide an informal, dynamic setting for young investigators to dig deep into biogenic VOC research world outside of their expertise, providing a "breaking-the-ice" opportunity prior to the Gordon Research Conference.
