Abstract

The Gordon Research Seminar on Biointerface Science is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting-edge ideas. The focus of this meeting is to gather researchers from different fields with a multidisciplinary approach to Biointerface Science questions in extant and artificial cells and tissues. In this context, the biointerface aspect includes interfaces within cells, liquid interfaces, cell-cell, cell-material interfaces (both biological and synthetic). Research questions will include - but are not limited to - artificial cells, responsive systems, physics of cellular membranes and their associated molecular assemblies, phase separation in cells, cell-material and cell-cell interactions, tissue organization, and mechanobiological effects. Additionally, we will review the tools currently used to investigate these phenomena and identify new routes to address yet unanswered questions. We welcome researchers from a wide variety of fields and disciplines, including chemistry, biology, tissue engineering, (bio)materials science, and engineering. Our aim is to promote collaboration across disciplines to gain a better understanding of bio-interfacial research questions.
