Abstract

The 2018 Gordon Research Conference on Bacterial Cell Surfaces will present cutting-edge research on the molecular and cellular aspects of the structure and function of the bacterial cell envelope and surface. The conference will bring together an international group of researchers who are key contributors to the field of cell envelope biology. The sessions will highlight late-breaking discoveries in cell division and morphogenesis, peptidoglycan metabolism, membrane dynamics, surface polymers, protein transport and secretion, signal sensing and stress responses, antimicrobials targeting cell envelope processes, and how the bacterial surface influences polymicrobial and host-microbe interactions. The conference will feature a diverse group of scientists and will include both established and early-stage investigators, who are at the forefront of their fields. Short talks will be selected from submitted abstracts and will feature junior scientists (graduate students, post-docs).
