Abstract

We are most honoured to invite you to the 17th EFCE International Symposium on Loss Prevention and Safety Promotion in Process Industries in Prague, the Czech Republic. The Faculty of Safety Engineering, VSB-Technical University of Ostrava is hosting this conference, the most prestigious in the world in the field of risk and safety related to the chemical and process industries; the symposium has returned to Prague after 18 years. Occupational and process safety professionals, researchers, scientists, academics and practitioners have been meeting on a triennial basis since the first conference in 1974. In accordance with the motto “Loss Prevention and Safety Promotion in the Changing World” we anticipate exchanges of information, dissemination of data and stimulated development of new topics for example in the fields of Industry 4.0, safe energy, advanced materials, etc. Our common goal is to reduce the risk of incidents/accidents in process industries. As you may know, Prague is a city with a unique potential to host such top international events. Prague is easily accessible to visitors coming both from nearby and distant destinations, and it prides itself on a well-organized and efficient city transport system and a sufficient number of hotels of all categories. Last but not least, Prague has the reputation of being a most attractive, friendly and safe city for tourists from all over the world.
