Abstract

Prof. Terry Coyne will hold the next AASSFN meeting on March or April, 2016 in Cairns Australia. It has been the 17th year for AFFSN. What makes it even better is that Australia has also become one of us since the last society meeting, which also makes us the AASSFN. The ninth session of AASSFN meeting was held successfully in Shanghai from January 10 to 12. To tell the truth, it is also a great honor for me to be selected as the president of AASSFN. But I have to say that it is really a great challenge for me and also expect the last presidents and all of our outstanding neuroscientists to make a joint effort for it. In the past decades, the world has seen a rapid development in the functional neurosurgery. However, as you may noticed, the southeastern and western parts of Asia are still inactive in the clinical practice compared with eastern Asia countries. Therefore, I would like to promote stereotactic and functional neurosurgery in these countries by taking the following action to help those regions in this field. Firstly, a series of training programs will be established in these areas. Secondly, part of our most excellent experts will be sent to the hospital in there as the volunteer. Thirdly, encourage some experienced hospital in eastern countries to provide fellowship position to young doctors from east-western countries.
