ECODIM will take place at the Marine Biology Station of the University of Concepcion in Dichato, Chile. The course is part of the activities of the Austral Summer Institute XVI. The main goal of the courses is to build research capacity and to transfer knowledge in areas of growing scientific interest in marine microbiology. This is achieved by teaching concepts and providing an overview of microbial ecology, genomics and the diversity and function of microorganisms in ocean habitats. ECODIM will thus bring together various aspects of environmental, molecular and microbiological, as well as geochemical, physical and bioinformatics methodologies needed to approach questions which are of importance in modern microbial oceanography.
