Abstract

This FASEB Science Research Conference will focus on biophysical and structural principles explaining molecular mechanisms in membranes and underlying membrane structure and function. Membranes form the defining boundaries of cells and their organelles. Biologists will learn about cutting edge biophysical techniques of membrane biology and biophysicists will learn about the latest developments in diverse biological fields of membrane systems, including many that are related to human diseases such as membrane signaling in cancer, membrane transport in cardiovascular disease and diabetes, synaptic transmission and amyloid deposition in neurological and neurodegenerative diseases, and entry pathways, antibiotic resistance, and immune response in infectious diseases.
