The theme of IJIE 2016 has been chosen as a€˜Smart Systems in Industrial Engineeringa€™ in recognition of the advisory researchers and practitioners who envision the role of smart systems in the various areas of industry, especially in light of the approaching economic depression and the era of Smart world. We, as industrial engineers, are heavily responsible for exploring the opportunity of developing concepts, methodologies, and technologies of smart systems in view of industrial engineering, and hopefully, helping the breakthrough of world economy. This conference will be an excellent platform for exchanging ideas, recognizing the state of the arts, and forming new bonds.
