Abstract

The VIII International Symposium on Optimization and Statistics in conjunction with XXXVI-Annual Convention of Indian Society for Probability and Statistics (ISPS) will be organized by the Department of Statistics and Operations Research, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India, during December 17 - 19, 2016.The aim of holding of the symposium is to disseminate and highlight the current researches in all the branches of Statistics and Operations Research. Aligarh Muslim University is a NAAC Accredited 'A Grade University. Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, a great social reformer of his times started a school in 1875 which later became Mohammedan Anglo Oriental College and finally Aligarh Muslim University in 1920.Modeled on the pattern of University of Cambridge, it is one of the premier institutions of higher learning offering more than 280 courses. It draws students from all corners of India as well as from abroad. Aligarh is situated in the middle of Doab - the land between Ganga and Yamuna rivers, at a distance of 130 km southeast of Delhi on the Delhi - Kolkata rail route and the Grand Trunk Road.
