Abstract

Magnetic resonance remains the technique of choice to investigate structure, dynamics and interactions of biomolecules at physiological conditions and to characterize heterogeneous materials at atomic details in the solid state. However, the strengths of magnetic resonance need to be reframed in the new general context characterized by the recent developments of NMR and EPR as well as of other structural techniques, such as cryoelectron microscopy, fluorescence, small angle scattering and mass spectrometry. This EMBO Workshop aims at grouping scientists proposing the most advanced NMR and EPR applications together with experts in combining magnetic resonance techniques with other structural and computational tools. Their synergistic application and the exploration of potential promising approaches represent key points for improving the description of the structural, dynamic and functional properties of the biomolecules inside living cells and involved in specific cellular pathways, and for addressing some of the major fundamental questions in life sciences. The EMBO Workshop aims at summing up the most promising current achievements in the magnetic resonance researches in life sciences, also to figure out the next milestones to be reached in this area.
