Abstract

The 2018 Gordon Research Conference on Mammalian Reproduction will be held, for the first time, in a non-US location on the beautiful hillside of Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco Lucca (Barga), Italy from July 29 to August 3, 2018. Preceding this Conference, the inaugural Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on Mammalian Reproduction that is designed specifically for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows will take place at the same site on July 28-29 (see information in "Related Conference" below). The Conference and Seminar will bring together leading researchers in the diverse area of reproductive sciences from around the world, and offer both junior and senior scientists opportunities to exchange ideas and develop collaborations. The Conference is designed to provide a forum that highlights recent advancements in reproductive sciences, including spermatogenesis, folliculogenesis, hormonal regulation of reproductive functions, implantation and placentation, pregnancy, reproductive tract development, non-rodent models for reproductive research, and stem cells and reproductive diseases. The program thrives to strike a balance among disciplines, genders, career status, and diverse backgrounds of researchers. Following the tradition of Gordon Research Conferences, an emphasis will be on the presentation of unpublished results and cutting edge advancements in the field in order to stimulate open discussions on emerging concepts and technologies. A number of short presentations will be chosen among submitted abstracts with a spotlight on junior researchers and trainees. Poster sessions will be held on each full day of the conference and all participants are encouraged to attend the "Power Hour" which is an informal gathering to discuss the challenges women face in science and how to support the professional growth of women in science. Graduate students and postdoctoral scientists are encouraged to apply for participation in both the GRS and GRC.
