Abstract

This meeting focuses on challenges and opportunities for nanomaterials in the energy space. The meeting will take a deep dive into applications areas including energy and fuel generation (photovoltaics, thermoelectrics, catalysis) and energy storage (fuel cells, batteries, and supercapacitors) with a focus on the new functionalities brought by the nanoscale dimensions. Speakers with experience taking technology from laboratory to market will provide perspective on the commercialization potential and challenges for nanomaterials. In addition to the application-specific talks, cross-cutting sessions will focus on how high performance computing can be used for material selection and optimization, how advanced characterization techniques with x-rays, neutrons, muons, and electrons can push understanding of nanomaterials and enable their rational design, and how nanomaterials are driving new types of innovative and cost-saving manufacturing.
