The Gordon Research Seminar on Cilia, Mucus and Mucociliary Interactions is a unique forum for graduate students, post-docs, and other scientists with comparable levels of experience and education to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas. Mucociliary clearance, the endpoint of mucociliary interactions, is a highly evolutionarily conserved and environmentally responsive process functioning in part as a barrier to pathogens and debris on epithelial surfaces. The precise development of cilia and mucus that drive their interaction in response to the environment is incompletely understood. This trainee centered GRS is designed to foster the platform for aspiring scientists to engage in research related to cilia, mucus, and the developmental and environmental processes leading to mucociliary interactions.
